Candlelight Service
Tonight was the annual candlelight service at our church. It is my favorite church service of the year. We sing Christmas hymns and at the end of the service, the lights are turned out, candles are lit and we sing Silent Night. I love it! It was even more special this year because we got to share it with Tinsley. Toby and I were talking on the way to church tonight about last year's candlelight service. It was actually my last night at home. I went to candlelight service and the next day at my doctor's appointment she sent me to the hospital. The day after that, Tinsley made her big debut! It is such a special and exciting time of the year!!!!
Tinsley is really into dancing right now. Anytime there is any type of music, she will move her head and bounce around. It is so funny! Tonight, she was getting "down" to "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing"
Tinsley was crazy about Claire and couldn't get enough of her!
Let the celebrating begin!
Tinsley will be 1 on Wednesday. Since Whitney won't be here on her actual birthday, she gave Tinsley her birthday gift today. Thanks to Aunt Whitney, Tinsley will be sporting some new pink boots and a blingy cow hide belt!
Tinsley also got to open up her birthday and Christmas gifts for the Surles family. She loves them all!!!

Swallow Study
We went today for the swallow study that the pediatric GI suggested we do. Tinsley did really well. She had to fast for 4 hours again, but she was a trooper as usual. They found that Tinsley has a "weak swallow", which they think is due to the reflux issues she has had. They said that as most babies drink, they follow a suck/swallow, suck/swallow, suck/swallow pattern. Tinsley, sucks whatever she is drinking in 3 times and then attempts to swallow. This causes whatever she is trying to drink or eat to sit on the back of her tongue for an extended period of time and there is also residual left after she swallows which is likely what is causing the gagging/vomitting. They recommended that we see a feeding therapist that is a speech or occupational therapist. They feel that this is a situation that can easily rectified and the sooner we address it, the better. Tinsley is getting older and is already starting to refuse basically anything we give her other than her bottle. They think this is because she associates eating any type of solid with gagging/vomitting which is of course uncomfortable. We are so thankful that we are not dealing with anything major.
Waiting, waiting, waiting
The swallow study was not as traumatic as the upper GI. They put her in a seat that was somewhat like a carseat for the test instead of laying her flat on a table and strapping her down. She did better drinking the barium because they put it in her her bottle. We are so glad it is behind us!

Tinsley has enough hair now to wear one of the little clippy bows.
Tinsley loves to kiss her reflection.

Getting ready for Christmas
Tinsley has been busy shopping, shopping, shopping!!!
I can't get enough of all of her cute Christmas outfits. :-)
I have officially been walking for about 48 hours now!
I have got this walking thing down!!!
The tree is finally up! I only put about half of the ornaments that we have on this year. The bottom portion is definitely lacking ornaments due to all of the "help" I have this year. :-) So thankful, I wouldn't trade my little helper for anything!!!

Walking!
Tinsley is officially walking! She has been standing and balancing herself for a while now. She would occassionally take a few steps, but that was about it. She decided yesterday that she was ready to take off. She is everywhere! Here she is in action.

Upper GI
Tinsley is still not really eating. She is not eating any types of solid foods and is not even too wild about the few baby foods she will normally eat. Last week when we took her to the doctor, she had lost 3 pounds in the past month. We know that the cold and stomach bug she has had could have contributed to this. Dr. Boecker was concerned and suggested that we go ahead and attempt to get Tinsley in to see a pediatric GI sooner than the December 22nd appointment we currently have. She had her nurse call Dell Children's in Austin and they were able to get her in for an appointment on December 6th. They requested that we have blood work and an upper GI done before the appointment. Last Thursday, after her doctor's appointment we went to the hospital for blood work. The blood work all came back good except that Tinsley's iron levels were low. They put her on vitamins and are hoping that will fix that issue. Toby and I took Tinsley for her upper GI on Monday. It was not fun. Tinsley got really upset when they had to strap her down. She would not drink the barium, so they used a syringe. They did not find any obstructions, which we were very thankful for. The doctor did say that her stomach does not empty quite as quickly as she would like to see it empty. We went to see the pediatric GI this morning in Austin. He was not as concerned about the stomach emptying issues. He thinks that we just have "major reflux". I have been having trouble keeping up with Tinsley since she cannot tolerate formula and is not eating. The pediatric GI suggested that we try pediasure in order to try to wean her from breastmilk, or to at least give me a little bit of help. She loves the pediasure! Only problem is that it has lots of sugar which seems to be affecting her sleep even more. For now, we are giving her pediasure during the day and breastmilk for her last bottle or two of the day. I am going to start slowly trying to work in some whole milk as well in an effort to completely wean her. The GI also wants us to follow up with a swallow study to confirm that Tinsley does not have any major swallow issues.
It was cold Monday morning, so we bundled up to go have the upper GI done.
Tinsley had to fast for 4 hours prior to the test. We scheduled it at 1 p.m. so that she would not have to wake up from the night and not have anything. She did okay until the car ride up to the hospital. She was sleepy and wanting a bottle. She normally does not take a pacifier, but it did "pacify" her for a bit.
This was before they strapped her head and arms down. Toby was holding her arms after they strapped them down and the x-ray tech told him that he could let go, that there was no way she could get them loose. Our little Houdini had her hands loose in no time. The test only took about 10 minutes, but it felt like FOREVER!!!
Yay! That is over!!!!
All that screaming will wear a girl out. :-)
At the pediatric GI's office bright and early!
Waiting to see the doctor.

Christmas Card Pics
We took pictures today for our Christmas card and for mom and dad's card as well. I just knew it would go great- I even brought several outfits for Tinsley so we could change her and have several different options. Ha! Tinsley had different ideas. We actually only got one good picture.
We couldn't even get Tinsley to cooperate for a family pic of just us. So, poor Whitney got cropped out of the other one for our family card.

Eagan and Tinsley
I attempted to get a few pictures of Eagan and Tinsley this afternoon. I say "attempted" because neither of them were really in the mood for a photo shoot.
That Eagan is just SOOO funny!
If one is looking at the camera, the other one looks away.
I have had enough of this and I WILL climb out of this wagon!!!!
They were both really excited about this pose.;-)
I love this one- Eagan is looking at my mom like "Seriously"?????
No more pictures mom!!!!!
